Arijit Singh was born on April 25, 1987 in Jiyaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal and grew up learning from two different cultures from his Punjabi father, Bengali mother. The singer started his singing career at the age of 18.

Arijit first appeared in a singing reality show ‘Fame Gurukul’ and then teamed up with music composer Shankar Ehsaan Loy to sing his first song in the Hollywood music film ‘High School Musical 2’. Although this film and the song ‘All For One’ did not get that discussion, then in the film ‘Murder 2’ which came in the year 2011, one of Arijit’s songs ‘Phir Mohabbat’ was taken.

After this, the songs of ‘Aashiqui 2’ gave a new identity to Arijit and for the song of the same film ‘Tum Hi Ho’ he also got the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer. Arijit Singh paid big price after messing with Salman

Singh, who arrived at the stage during the Guild Awards in 2014, was rude to Salman Khan. Even though Arijit may have joked at that time, Salman did not like this thing at all. For years Arijit kept trying to persuade him, but to no avail.

Arijit Singh arrived late to receive the award on stage. Seeing his condition, it seemed as if he had come to sleep. Salman joked to Arijit on this matter – did you sleep? Singer responded to this by Salman. Arijit had said- Yes, you guys put him to sleep. Arjit’s answer to Salman was like an arrow. 

It is said that after this incident, Salman made a condition that the film where Arijit Singh would sing would not work in it. It is also said that in Salman’s film Sultan, Arijit had gone to a song which was removed by Salman. Even after almost six years of this incident, there has been no reconciliation between Salman and Arijit.

The background

Arijit was born in Murshidabad, West Bengal. His father is Punjabi and his mother is Bengali. Arjits music started training from his home. His grandmother used to sing. And his aunt is trained in Indian classical music. He also learned music from his mother, who also performed tabla playing along with singing. 

Studies

He studied at Raja Bijay Singh High School and Sripat Singh College. According to Singh, he was a Decent student but more interested in music. Seeing his passion for music, his family also decided to train him professionally. He learned Indian classical music from Rajendra Prasad Hazari and trained in tabla playing with Dhirendra Prasad Hazari. Birendra Prasad Hazari taught him Rabindra Sangeet and Pap Sangeet. 

Wedding

Singh married his childhood friend Koel Roy on 20 January 2014 at the Tarapith temple in West Bengal. He confirmed the news with the wedding photo being posted on the social networking site. This was his second marriage. Earlier, he had married his co-contestant in a reality show. This was his second marriage to his wife Koyal and he also has a girl. 

Career debut

In 2005, he auditioned the reality show Fame Gurukul at the behest of Rajendra Prasad Hazari as he felt that the tradition of classical music was coming to an end. At first Singh was hesitating to use that opportunity. But later he participated in it. Composer Shankar Mahadevan was on the jury panel and had a classical background. However, Arijit lost the show in the finals but then took part in another reality show 10K10 Le Gaye Dil which was a musical show and featured a contest between the winners of Fame Gurukul and Indian Idol.

After winning the show, Singh created his recording setup and began his journey with music programming. After that, he worked as an assistant music programmer with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar and Mithun. that time,Mahadevan persuades Arijit to give his voice to the song he composed but Arijit refuses, saying that he has to become a ‘popular voice’ after which Mahadevan along with the other singers dubbed the song. 

Journey from 2010 to 2013

In 2010, Arijit started working with Pritam Chakraborty in three films including Golmaal 3, Crook, and Action Replay. In 2011, Singh made his Bollywood music debut with Mithun’s song ‘Phir Mohabbat’ which is a song from Murder 2. The song was recorded in 2009 but released in 2011. He then sang the film agent Vinod’s song Raabta. Apart from Agent Vinod, Singh also dubbed songs for Pritam in three other films including Players,Movies like Cocktail and Barfi are included.

He also voiced the song 1920: Evil Returns for Chirantan Bhatt and gave voice to the song ‘Dua’ for Vishal-Shekhar in the film Shanghai for which he received the award for the upcoming Male Playback Singer at the Mirchi Music Awards and in the same category The songs of the film Barfi were also nominated for Phir Le Aaya Hoon Dil. Arijit got huge success and recognition from Aashiqui 2’s Tum Hi Ho song.

He received several awards for this song, including a nomination for Best Male Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards. He also worked with Jeet Ganguly in other songs of the film. Arijit then sang songs like Delhiwali Girlfriend, Kabira and Ilahi. He has also sung the song ‘Main Rang Sharbat Ka’, filmed on Shahid and Ileana.Sang songs like Kabira and Ilahi. Since 2014

In 2014, Arijit got a chance to work with two of his favorite music directors, Sajid-Wajid and AR Rahman. He sang two songs in the film Main Tera Hero and also sang ‘Raat Bhar’ by Heropanti. Apart from this, he sang many other songs like Parhanwan, Hamdard, Manwa Lage, Smiling Reasons, Suno Na Marble, Mast Magan which remained superhit and also dominated the chartbusters. All these songs went on people’s tongues and Arijit also touched new heights. After this, in 2015, he made the film Sooraj Dubey and sang the title track of Khamoshiyan and ‘Baate Ye Kabhi Na’. Arijit is consistently active as one of the best singers in Bollywood. And getting the iron of his singing.
