Unnao rape-kidnapping case: BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar convicted

Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a BJP MLA who was expelled from the BJP in the New Delhi Unnao rape case, was convicted in the rape case. The Tis Hazari court of Delhi gave its verdict today against Kuldeep Sengar. The court also reprimanded the CBI for the delay in filing the chargesheet, blaming MLA Sengar in the 2017 kidnapping and rape case. The woman accused Shashi Singh was acquitted by the court. Punishment will be announced on 19th.

The court said in its order that Sanger’s sentence will be announced tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday. In Unnao case, the court gave a decision on one case, but the decision on 4 other cases is yet to come. The court considered the mobile location of MLA Sengar as important evidence. In its judgment, the court said that there is evidence that the victim was taken by Shashi Singh to the convicted MLA. Sanger was convicted under section 376, section 5 (c) and poxo act of IPC.

‘Sanger was a powerful man’
The court said, “Sanger was a powerful person, the victim was not a girl from the metropolitan educated area but a village girl, which led to the delay in filing the case.” After he wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, several cases were registered against his family members. Dalat expressed surprise at the delay in filing the charge sheet in the case by the CBI, saying that it had led to prolonged hearing against Sanger.
