World Health Day : Since its inception, the WHO has played a large role in eradicating small pox disease. At present, WHO is working on prevention of dangerous diseases like AIDS, Ebola, TB and Corona Virus or Covid19.

World Health Day is observed every year on 7 April on the anniversary of the Foundation Day of the World Health Organization . Last year’s theme is ‘Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere’ means that everyone should get the benefit of better health facilities everywhere.

Each year on April 7, hundreds of organizations celebrate World Health Day. Awareness events are organized around the world, aimed at better informing public opinion about morbidity, mortality and suffering.

View of WHO on World Health Day

The World Health Organization or WHO is part of the United Nations. Its main job is to monitor and help solve health problems worldwide. WHO was established on 7 April 1948 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. At the time of the founding of the WHO, its constitution was signed by 61 countries. Its first meeting was held on 24 July 1948.


Since its inception, the WHO has played a large role in eradicating small pox disease. At present, WHO is working on prevention of dangerous diseases like AIDS, Ebola and TB. The WHO is responsible for the World Health Report, which carries a survey of health concerns related to the whole world. The current director general of WHO is Tredross Adonam, who began his five-year term on 1 July 2017.

World Health Day is one of the major World Days on the birthday of the World Health Organization (WHO), whose constitution entered into force on April 7, 1948. 2020 is the international motto: “World Health Day 2020 – Support nurses and midwives”. In view of the Corona Crisis 2020, it is certainly a suitable decision – albeit made well in advance.

With 194 member states, WHO is one of the largest world organizations. The World Health Day has been proclaimed in Germany since 1954. The main organizer of World Health Day in Germany is the Federal Association for Prevention and Health Promotion (BVPG).
